Japan's Prime Minister affirms continued support for Ukraine to achieve a just peace..

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba affirmed Japan's continued support for Ukraine to help achieve a just and sustainable peace.

Japan's public broadcasting agency NHK reported in a statement on Wednesday that this came during Ishiba's first direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada on Tuesday.

Ishiba stressed the urgent need to achieve a "just and sustainable peace" in Ukraine as soon as possible, pledging to work closely with G7 nations to advance the necessary measures.

He added that Tokyo will continue its financial support to Kyiv, which has so far exceeded $12 billion USD.

In support of Ukraine's reconstruction efforts, Japan will host an international conference on addressing anti-personnel landmines in October this year.

The G7 group includes Britain, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, and the United States.
