Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated on Monday his country's support for Sudan's unity, sovereignty, security, and stability, stressing its readiness to make every effort to help Sudan in this regard. This came during al-Sisi's meeting with Sudanese Sovereign Council Chairman Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in the coastal city of El Alamein, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic. The statement added that during the meeting, El-Sisi and Al-Burhan stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to provide support and assistance to the brotherly Sudanese people, who are suffering harsh humanitarian conditions as a result of the ongoing conflict. It explained that the two presidents' talks touched on ways to strengthen bilateral relations, including efforts to rebuild Sudan and open new horizons for joint cooperation, especially in economic fields. He noted that the two sides discussed regional developments, particularly in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa, pointing to the two countries' shared views on the need to protect water security and reject unilateral measures in the Blue Nile Basin. The statement stressed the importance of respecting the rules of international law in order to achieve the common interests of all countries in the basin. Al-Burhan arrived in Egypt this evening on an unannounced visit to hold talks on the latest developments in Sudan, as well as regional and international efforts to restore peace and stability throughout Sudan.
