Late Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel has agreed to a temporary 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, stating that Doha and Cairo would finalize the deal's proposal.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump revealed: *"My representative held a lengthy and productive meeting with Israeli officials today regarding Gaza... Israel (the occupation) has agreed to the necessary terms for implementing a 60-day ceasefire."*

He added: "During this period, we will work with all parties to end the war. The Qataris and Egyptians, who are working hard to help bring peace, will present this final proposal. For the sake of the Middle East, I hope Hamas accepts this deal because the situation won't improve—it will only worsen."

Hours earlier, Trump had expressed optimism about reaching a truce agreement in Gaza by next week, just days before hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.
