The Syrian Civil Aviation Authority announced on Sunday the resumption of regular direct flights between Syria and Libya operated by Syrian Airlines, ending a 10-year suspension caused by security and political instability in both countries.
Syria's official news agency SANA quoted Aviation Authority head Asaad al-Sulaybi stating: "Flights will resume next week using Syrian Airlines aircraft, as part of efforts to facilitate travel for Syrians living abroad."
Al-Sulaybi emphasized this step aims to "reconnect Syria with its diaspora communities and strengthen ties with all nations, serving Syrian interests and enabling expatriates to return home to participate in recovery and reconstruction efforts."
Background:
Air links were severed over 10 years ago due to security concerns
Limited irregular charter flights (Damascus-Benghazi) resumed in 2023
