Algeria... The Arab Scout Guide Conference discusses preparing the Arab Region Action Plan for the period (2025–2028)..

Proceedings of the 24th Arab Regional Conference for Guides and Girl Scouts continued today, Sunday, in Algiers, with a dedicated session to discuss and prepare the Arab Region Action Plan for the upcoming period (2025–2028). The session reflected a spirit of teamwork and coordination among the various Arab delegations.

The second day of the conference was chaired by the Planning Team tasked with drafting the triennial Regional Action Plan—one of the core responsibilities of the Regional Committee as the body in charge of formulating objectives and activities based on the needs expressed by member organizations.

According to the organizers, "The plan is built around three key outcomes: a unified and interconnected movement led by girls and young women that supports member organizations to thrive and remain inclusive; the provision of high-quality guiding and scouting experiences for girls; and a sustainable World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS)."

The committee emphasized that "this plan must be rooted in reality and reflect genuine aspirations and priorities," following an extensive consultation process that allowed member organizations to contribute their insights, experiences, and future directions.

This consultation highlighted several key themes, including:

  • Empowering girls and strengthening their leadership roles

  • Enhancing cooperation and network-building among member organizations

  • Promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility

  • Expanding contributions in economic and social fields to bolster the scouting movement’s role in developmental issues

Session organizers stressed the need for "a sustainable Arab region," which requires focusing on three fundamental aspects:

  1. Financial sustainability by increasing revenue from donations in alignment with WAGGGS’ goals and priorities.

  2. Operational efficiency through consistent implementation of the volunteer-based operational model, adding value to WAGGGS.

  3. Strengthening the global team culture by enhancing collaboration with WAGGGS’ global team.

The session embodied "a spirit of teamwork and coordination among Arab delegations, ensuring the upcoming action plan serves as a strategic step toward a stronger, more integrated future for the Arab scouting movement"—aligned with the conference theme, "Stronger Together."

The afternoon session featured "proposals prepared for voting by member associations," where members of the Arab Regional Committee presented "a series of proposed changes alongside objectives and aspirations for 2028."

At the session’s conclusion, the Omani delegation received the Arab Regional Flag for Guides and Girl Scouts, symbolizing their hosting of the first Arab regional activity, handed over by Regional President Sara Hammoud.

The 24th Arab Scout Conference for Guides launched yesterday, Saturday, in Algiers and will run for six days, serving as a platform for dialogue on advancing the scouting movement among young women and girls.
