Sony is gradually moving closer to putting its electric cars on the road, after its partner Honda began the initial production phase of the company's first electric car. This first batch will be used in the final stages of testing.

The Afeela 1 sedan debuted four years ago, but its final shape was revealed at CES 2025. Sony plans to launch the car in its native Japan in 2026.

The company is targeting the luxury car market with just two versions: the Origin at $89,900 and the Signature at $102,900. The company has opened pre-booking for a refundable fee of $200, with deliveries to begin in California in mid-2026, with later expansion to other states.
