Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Saturday efforts to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the two ministers discussed, in a phone call, the summit held in the U.S. state of Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump.

Minister Fidan expressed his hope that the process initiated in Alaska would lead to lasting peace with Ukraine's participation, stressing Turkey's readiness to contribute in any way to achieving peace.
