Nvidia has begun production of advanced AI chips with the new Blackwell architecture in the United States, with the first batch of American-made chips coming out of TSMC's factory in Arizona.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed TSMC's U.S. plant employees to celebrate the milestone, signing a Blackwell chip himself along with TSMC's vice president of operations, Wang.TSMC has made huge investments in its first factories within the U.S., exceeding $165 billion so far, with plans for further expansion. Although the plant in Arizona will cover only a fraction of the needs of U.S. processors, its ability to manufacture the world's most advanced AI chips underscores its strategic importance.
