Since the launch of the first iPhone, Apple has used fixed-aperture lenses in all of its phones, while most of the leading Android phones have relied on variable-aperture lenses for years.
It seems that Apple is finally ready to join this trend, as a new report from ET News revealed that sources within the supply chain have confirmed the company's intention to introduce this technology in the upcoming iPhone 18 series.According to the report, Apple has chosen Sunny Optical as its main supplier of variable aperture lenses, and plans to implement the technology in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models next year.
