A Chinese surprise: Samsung may abandon its screens in the Galaxy S27..

The flagship Galaxy S27 may see an unusual change in Samsung's flagship phone series, as new reports indicate that Samsung is considering using OLED displays from the Chinese company BOE instead of relying solely on its own. This move aims to reduce costs amidst rising prices for phone components.

According to reports from the research firm SigmaIntel, cited by ZDNet Korea, phone manufacturers are currently facing an increasing crisis in the prices of DRAM chips and storage units, prompting them to seek ways to reduce production costs without significantly raising device prices.

The screen is one of the most expensive components in any smartphone, making it a prime target for cost-cutting plans.

Therefore, Samsung is considering a multi-supplier strategy, with Samsung Display continuing to provide the majority of screens, while some versions of the base model will use screens from BOE.

This represents a significant shift for the Galaxy S series, which has historically relied almost entirely on Samsung's own displays.
