Toyota plans to invest $3.6 billion to move production of one of its trucks from this country..

Toyota Motor Corp. announced on Monday, July 6, that it will invest $3.6 billion to move production of the Tacoma, a midsize pickup truck, from a plant in Mexico to its manufacturing complex in San Antonio, Texas. The investment will create 2,000 jobs within the United States at the facility, add a second vehicle assembly line, and nearly double the plant's area, which currently stands at 2.7 million square feet, by 2030. Toyota also indicated that this move will increase the plant's annual production capacity from approximately 200,000 units to 350,000 units. This announcement comes as part of Toyota's stated plans to invest up to $10 billion more than previously projected in the United States by 2030. It follows less than a week after the Trump administration confirmed it would not extend the trilateral trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, opting instead for annual reviews.
