The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, emphasized on Wednesday the importance of cooperation with the agency to provide reliable assurances regarding the nature of Iran's nuclear program.
Iranian state media reported that this stance was mentioned in a post written by Grossi on his X (formerly Twitter) account following his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in Tehran.
Grossi stated that "cooperation with the IAEA is essential to provide credible assurances about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program at a time when urgent diplomacy is needed."
He described his meeting with Amirabdollahian as "important" during his current visit, which he said came "at the right time."
Grossi is scheduled to meet on Thursday with the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami.
