The Gulf basketball federations officially endorsed Awed Al-Anzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Kuwait Basketball Federation and their nominated candidate, as a member of the Arab Basketball Federation during their Wednesday meeting in Dubai. This came after the withdrawal of Oman's candidate, Khalfan Al-Na'abi.

On this occasion, Thamer Al-Shanfa, Secretary-General of the Kuwait Basketball Federation and the federation's representative in the Arab Basketball Federation elections, expressed his profound gratitude in a press statement:

"We extend our deepest appreciation to our brothers in the Gulf federations for renewing their confidence in Kuwait's nominee, Awed Al-Anzi. We also convey our sincere thanks to Oman's candidate, Khalfan Al-Na'abi, for graciously stepping aside in favor of Al-Anzi."

Al-Shanfa added that this trust will enhance Kuwait's standing in international sports, particularly as the country possesses numerous qualified administrative personnel who have demonstrated their competence in recent years.

He further noted that the Kuwaiti Federation has ambitious plans, including nominating more Kuwaiti professionals for international positions in the coming period.
