The US Secretary of State discusses with his Russian counterpart ways to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine..

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in a phone call today, Thursday, the proposals recently presented by the United States in Paris to achieve a "lasting peace" between Moscow and Kyiv.

US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a press statement: "Secretary (Rubio) conveyed the same message to his Russian counterpart (Lavrov) that the US delegation delivered to the Ukrainian team and our European allies in Paris."

She added: "President Donald Trump wants to end this war, and we have now presented all parties with the outline of a lasting and sustainable peace between Russia and Ukraine."

Bruce affirmed that "the encouraging reception of the US proposals in Paris confirms that peace is possible if all parties commit to reaching an agreement."

US Secretary of State Rubio, Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg are currently in Paris on a visit that concludes tomorrow, Friday, aiming to hold peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv. The military conflict between them entered its fourth year at the end of last February.
