As part of the 17th Cultural Summer Festival organized by Kuwait's National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, Bait Al-Sadu held a specialized workshop on Sunday titled "The Art of Naffash Needle Embroidery", conducted by trainer Anfal Al-Azmi with participation from heritage craft enthusiasts.
Workshop Highlights:
Technique Demonstrated: Traditional Naffash embroidery – a hand-weaving method creating raised patterns on cotton fabric
Applications: Embellishing bags, rugs, clothing, and artistic wall pieces
Skill Level: Beginner-friendly but requires practice for stitch precision
Hands-on Training: Participants practiced basic patterns to build foundational skills
Trainer's Insight:
Al-Azmi explained in a press statement:
"The Naffash technique transforms simple stitches into intricate geometric designs. While easy to learn, mastering the tension and rhythm of the needle demands patience – but the results are stunning cultural artifacts."
