Coalition downs 14 Houthi missiles and drones aimed at Saudi Arabia

The Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen's government said it intercepted and destroyed 14 missiles and explosive-laden drones launched by the Houthis at several parts of Saudi Arabia over the past 24 hours. The targets included Riyadh, Al-Kharj and the Eastern Province.

Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said air defences brought down two ballistic missiles fired toward the Harad district of Al-Ahsa governorate and the city of Dhahran. Five cruise missiles and one ballistic missile aimed at the Riyadh area were also intercepted, along with a cruise missile over Al-Kharj. Five drones were downed as well, four of them north of the capital and one in the southern airspace.

Saudi Civil Defence said falling debris from two intercepted cruise missiles in Riyadh injured four people: two women, a man and a child. The debris also caused limited damage to 15 homes. In a separate incident, debris from an intercepted ballistic missile injured an Arab resident and damaged a house and a vehicle.

In Dhahran, fragments fell on a residential neighbourhood without causing injuries. An official at the Saudi Energy Ministry said an Aramco administrative building in the city was hit, sparking a limited fire. No one was hurt.

The coalition said it was taking firm operational measures to neutralise the Houthis' attack capabilities. It reported pre-emptive air strikes on camps, weapons depots and launch platforms in Sanaa. The escalation followed Houthi threats against Aramco facilities in Dammam, the Riyadh refinery and King Khalid International Airport.
