The events of “Marrakesh, Capital of Islamic Youth for 2025” kicked off on Monday evening with the participation of delegations from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, including Kuwait, represented by the Director General of the Public Authority for Youth, Nasser Al-Sheikh. In his speech during the launch of the event in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mehdi Bensaid emphasized the pivotal role played by young people in shaping the future and driving development and prosperity. Bensaid referred to the “Capital of Islamic Youth” initiative launched by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in cooperation with the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum to express “a deep desire to link youth dynamics with the cultural and civilizational characteristics of Islamic capitals.” He added that the choice of Marrakesh as the Capital of Islamic Youth for 2025 has “deep cultural symbolism,” noting that it is “a historic city with deep roots in time, founded by the Almoravids in 1070, which has been a center of cultural influence for centuries and has contributed to shaping collective and spiritual awareness as an ancient capital with a pivotal role in the history of Morocco and the Islamic world.” He expressed his ambition through this “unique experience” to establish Marrakesh as “a genuine platform for dialogue, construction, and open discussion” that brings together young people from the Islamic world in a space where thought and creativity converge to adopt innovative solutions to the challenges of the age, which now require the definition of visions and the modernization of mechanisms by focusing on fundamental issues such as digital technology, the environment, cultural identity, and sustainable development. The events, in which about 1,000 young people from Islamic countries are participating, aim to create a multidimensional international space to enhance youth participation in solving social and economic challenges in the Islamic world, as well as to promote solidarity and cultural exchange among young people in OIC member states and support the values of tolerance and coexistence between cultures through the organization of various activities and events. It is worth noting that the launch ceremony for the events of “Marrakesh, Capital of Islamic Youth for 2025” was also attended by the Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Rabat, Counselor Dakhil Al-Kharin.
