Study: 85% of UAE consumers use artificial intelligence in shopping..

A Visa study revealed that artificial intelligence (AI) has become an increasingly integral part of the shopping experience for consumers in the UAE, with 85% using AI tools to assist in their shopping. This included checking product ratings and user reviews (60%), comparing prices (59%), and finding gift ideas (55%).

The study, conducted by Wakefield Research and reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), demonstrated the growing reliance of UAE consumers on AI tools in their daily shopping experiences, while trust and security remain paramount when completing payments.

This trend, according to Visa, reflects a widespread belief in the benefits of modern technologies, with 93% of survey respondents reporting that AI-powered tools have made online shopping faster and easier than ever before.

AI is also playing an increasingly important role in discovering new brands and stores, with 60% of respondents reporting that they regularly discover new brands or stores while shopping online. Despite this, consumers remain hesitant to adopt

AI

to complete purchases on their behalf.

Only 32% expressed confidence in AI agents to complete the payment process, highlighting the importance of building consumer trust in the era of AI-powered e-commerce.

As AI usage increases, consumers also view it as part of the solutions to combat online fraud. 57% believe it has made fraud detection easier, while 85% believe it will play a pivotal role in protecting consumers from fraud in the future.
