The General Directorate of Traffic has adopted the use of the smart home impoundment device for vehicles whose violations require impoundment in accordance with the approved regulations and procedures, with the system to begin operating from next Sunday, September 6.
In a statement via the Ministry of Interior’s account on “X”, it explained that “the device is installed on the vehicle at the location of the violation, while the calculation of the impoundment period begins at exactly (12:00) midnight of the same day, in order to allow time to deliver the vehicle to the location specified for home impoundment”, indicating that “the device installation fee is (10) dinars, in addition to ground fees of (2) dinars for each day of impoundment, and the system allows the transfer of vehicles currently in the traffic impoundment garage to the smart home impoundment system to complete the remaining period, which provides greater flexibility in implementing the procedures.”
She added that “upon the expiry of the reservation period, a notification will be sent to the violator via the “Sahl” application stating that the reservation period has ended, and that one of the locations specified by the General Directorate of Traffic must be visited to complete the procedures for releasing the vehicle.”
Noting that the implementation of the system comes within the steps to develop traffic services, simplify procedures and improve the quality of services provided, the General Directorate of Traffic called on drivers to abide by traffic laws and avoid committing violations, in order to preserve their safety and the safety of road users and to enhance traffic security and safety.
