Al Kuwait can move to the brink of the AFC Champions League Two round of 16 when they host Uzbek side Nasaf at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off at 7pm in the fourth round of Group A fixtures.

At the same time, group leaders Al Wahda of the UAE welcome Bahrain's Al Khalidiya to Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Al Wahda top the standings with nine points, three clear of second-placed Al Kuwait. Nasaf and Al Khalidiya trail in third and fourth respectively, with a single point each.

Both qualifying spots could be settled on the night. A win for Al Kuwait, combined with a victory or a draw for Al Wahda, would render the remaining fixtures a formality.

The Kuwaiti side go into the game seeking the win that would secure their place, buoyed by home advantage and the backing of their supporters. They beat Nasaf 1-0 in the previous round, with Mohammed Daham scoring the only goal.

With the two sides already familiar with each other, few surprises are expected. Al Kuwait's Syrian coach Firas Al-Khatib knows his players will need to raise their work rate and make the most of half-chances to end the visitors' hopes early.

Al-Khatib will have to reshuffle his starting line-up, however, with Cameroonian Omar Gonalis sidelined through injury and Al-Mahdi Barhama suspended.

Nasaf, meanwhile, have no option but to win if they are to keep their faint qualification hopes alive.
