The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed a loan agreement with the Federal Republic of Nigeria to contribute to financing a project aimed at supporting education for out-of-school children in Kaduna State.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, KFAED stated that the agreement, signed by Acting Director General Waleed Al-Bahar and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Aniete, seeks to develop educational infrastructure by constructing and rehabilitating schools, enhancing access to basic education—particularly for the most vulnerable children, including those with disabilities, girls, and adolescents—while also improving teacher training and strengthening educational management capacities.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Acting Director General Waleed Al-Bahar met with Nigeria’s Minister of Housing and Rural Development, Ahmed Dangiwa; the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children, Dr. Muhammad Idris; and the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum.
Established in 1961, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development was initially capitalized at 50 million Kuwaiti dinars (approx. $163.6 million) with the goal of assisting Arab nations. In 1974, its mandate expanded to include African countries, enabling it to finance development projects across both Arab and African states.
